The family run Erwin Müller Versandhaus GmbH, based in Buttenwiesen, is one of the established mail order companies in Germany. The company specialises in home textiles for the bedroom, bathroom and living areas and, in line with its slogan „Wohlfühlen zu Hause“, addresses the whole family.

Mail order retail has been at the heart of the business for decades and is now handled primarily online. The extensive product range is characterised by considerable depth, which is particularly reflected in Erwin Müller’s own brands. The assortment is complemented by other well known brands as well as a large and continuously growing selection of personalised products.

Responsibility in day-to-day operations

In mail order retail, there is no buffer. Orders, campaigns and seasonal peaks leave no room for delay. Processes must function at all times. Stability is not an option; it is a prerequisite.

Against this backdrop, Erwin Müller and SPH formed a partnership in 2008. From the outset, the objective was to take responsibility within day-to-day operations and to safeguard ongoing business activities for the long term. Not selectively, and not on a project basis, but continuously and close to the operational core.

Since then, SPH has been firmly embedded in live operations. Decisions are driven by an in-depth understanding of processes, interdependencies and the time-critical nature of mail order retail. New requirements are integrated in a way that preserves operational stability. The value of this collaboration becomes particularly evident during highly seasonal periods: responsibility is assumed and carried, not passed on.

Experience in Mail Order Retail

This form of collaboration is based on experience. Mail order retail is a discipline in its own right, governed by clear principles. Extensive product ranges, seasonal campaigns, private labels and customisable products place particular demands on processes and coordination. Order management, availability, shipping, returns and customer service are all closely linked. Errors have an immediate impact on revenue and customer satisfaction.

SPH understands these interdependencies through many years of hands-on experience in mail order retail. Early topics such as drop shipment models and the finishing of personalised products demonstrated how sensitive individual process steps are to the overall value proposition. Throughout the partnership, new requirements were gradually integrated, including additional payment methods, further sales channels, marketplaces, and evolving assortment structures. The priority at all times was to ensure robust processes and reliable management of seasonal peaks. Between 2020 and 2025, an average of around two million orders per year were processed reliably. Operational performance in this environment has won multiple awards.
